In this study an economic evaluation of the main source separation schemes already in place in Lombardy is presented. It’s based on a very detailed database, gathering economic and quantitative data on 1546 municipalities with almost 10 million inhabitants.Lombardy is an interesting case study because, inside its territory, local authorities have implemented different collection schemes with a wide range of performances in terms of separate collection rate.
