Michele Giavini parteciperà il 28 e 29 marzo al Second meeting of the technical working group for the Emas Sectoral Reference Document on Best Environmental Management Practices for the waste management sector, which will take place on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 March 2017 at the European Commission, Joint Research Centre, Seville, SPAIN.
The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) is producing a Reference Document on Best Environmental Management Practice (BEMP) for the Waste Management sector. The document, aimed at local authorities and waste management companies, will describe best environmental practices which can be implemented by organisations to minimise their environmental impact. Further information on this project is available at: http://susproc.jrc.ec.europa.eu/activities/emas/waste_mgmt.html.
The JRC has established a Technical Working Group (TWG) comprising experts in the sector from across Europe to steer this work, identify the best practices and validate the findings. You are invited to be part of this TWG and contribute as an expert to the formulation, improvement and validation of the document and discuss with your peers the best practices implemented across the sector, the most suitable environmental performance indicators and the benchmarks of excellence. The second meeting of the TWG, which will be held in Seville on 28-29 March 2017, will aim mainly at defining a set of meaningful environmental performance indicators that can be used to assess the performance of a waste management system, and, eventually, a related set of benchmarks of excellence (wherever feasible).
This work is part of the implementation of the EMAS Regulation and further information about the overall development of these best environmental practice documents, called the EMAS Sectoral Reference Documents, is available at: http://susproc.jrc.ec.europa.eu/activities/emas/
